I had implants with Dr Musa ten years ago. It was the best thing I've ever done. They are brilliant. My sight both near and distant was very poor but since the op I've had no glasses no lenses and my sight has been super. It remains really good to this day. Thank you Dr Musa. Brilliant consultations and treatment for glaucoma since.

I can highly recommend the Eye Doctor Clinic, and I am so pleased I went there. Dr Musa, Gemma and Jess are lovely. They are very knowledgeable and were able to answer all my questions. My vision following surgery is great, and not having to wear glasses is fantastic.

What is YAG Laser Treatment?

YAG laser treatment, also known as YAG laser capsulotomy, is a swift and gentle procedure used to clear cloudy vision that can develop after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange.

The haze results from a condition known as Posterior Capsule Opacification (PCO). It is a result of cells forming on the posterior side of the membrane that contains your artificial lens. When cells accumulate on the back side of the membrane, light rays fail to pass through effectively, and vision becomes hazy, glared, or cloudy, like when you had a cataract before.

YAG laser treatment creates a tiny, precise opening in this clouded capsule, letting light reach the back of the eye without obstruction. Our expert approach follows a simple philosophy: the minimum intervention for the best possible result.

Why Choose YAG Laser Treatment?

PCO will not improve on its own, but YAG laser treatment can permanently clear it. You may choose this treatment if you are facing:

Blurry, hazy or cloudy vision months or years after cataract surgery
More glare or halos around lights, especially at night
Difficulty reading, driving or recognising faces
A return of symptoms similar to your original cataracts
Reduced contrast or washed-out colours
Trouble in bright sunlight or with screen use

Dr Musa will assess your eye and confirm whether the YAG laser is the safest and most suitable path forward for you.

How Does YAG Laser Treatment Work?

YAG laser capsulotomy is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure designed to give you instant visual clarity. Your consultant uses state-of-the-art Zeiss laser equipment to create a small, precise opening in the cloudy back layer of the lens capsule. Light then passes through freely, and your vision becomes sharp once again.

The whole process is entirely dropless, meaning no numbing drops, no dilation drops, and no fiddly drop regimen to follow at home. You simply sit at the laser, focus on a target light, and the consultant does the rest.

The treatment usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes. Once the opening is made, the PCO usually does not return, making this a permanent, one-time solution for the vast majority of patients.

01You sit comfortably at the YAG laser
02Focus on a small target light
03Precise laser opens the clouded capsule
04Light passes freely to your retina
05Vision becomes sharp once again
06You walk out, no drops, no patches
